Soap Lake Creative District Update

SL Creative District Update

Next Planning Meeting: September 21, 6pm

The next Soap Lake Creative District (SLCD) committee meeting will take place at the Soap Lake Community and Senior Center. Annette Roth, ArtsWA Creative District Program Manager, will be here in person for this meeting. During this meeting we’ll reflect on the work we’ve done so far, verify we are on the right track and that we haven’t missed any of the basic characteristics of our proposed creative district.

Please join us on the 21st and be an active participant in this process!

August 24 meeting recap

Status of “Setting the Groundwork” – we’ve nearly finished this section.

Community Calendar – a new, online tool that will be available to local organizations for publishing events. Friends of the Lower Grand Coulee is covering the subscription cost for the first year. We hope to “go live” with the calendar by the end of September. Organizations on board include:

· Soap Lake Library

· Soap Lake Community and Senior Center

· Soap Lake Prevention Coalition

· Friends of the Lower Grand Coulee

· Masquers Theater

· City of Soap Lake

Emma Buchanan presented her mural concept, and this project is moving forward. The completed project will be installed at 321 E Main St.

Other projects will be presented in the future as more information becomes available.

The group worked together to complete an Asset Map for our region. It was a fun activity, and we may talk about that again at our September 21 meeting.

What’s our timeline?

More details about how the process works can be found at the links listed here.
